Beach Hunters Metal Detecting

Dirt Fishing is more than just an exciting hobby.  It can also be a great way to get out and meet new people as we see here in this amazing video from R Adams. Whether you are teaming up with a fellow treasure hunter or just showing off your haul to nosey tourists metal detecting can be surprisingly social.  Which to me seems to be a bit paradoxical as I always thought it was looked at as a nerdy hobby.  Tell that to the guy who finds the gold ring, am I right?

If you are looking to get into under water treasure hunting here are some good machines to look at.  Amazon has some great deals on new and used metal detectors though I suggest taking a look on Craigslist before you buy.  Not only can you upgrade to a nicer detector for a better price, you will also save on shipping.   Before you buy make sure to do your research, there are many types of machines out there and choosing the one that is right for you is important.  The most expensive metal detector with all the bells and whistles doesn't mean you are more likely to find better treasure, in face it may be just the opposite.  learning your machine and knowing where to hunt are the keys to this hobby.  When you purchase your first machine it is a good idea to bury some coins and other debris in yard so you can try out your machine and get used to the different tones and functions.  Check out this video for beginner tips.  For you seasoned veterans, if you have any tips or tricks to pass along please leave them in the comments below.  Thanks for reading, and as always, good luck and happy hunting.
