Beginners Guide To Metal Detecting

In this extensive beginners guide to metal detecting you will learn the dos and don't of this wonderful hobby.  From learning how to use your machine to when and where you can hunt.  If you are new to dirt fishing there are many things to learn before you start that will give you an advantage when treasure hunting.  An inexperienced detectorist who hasn't done their research is far more likely to to get frustrated and give up.  Metal detecting is a game of patience and persistence, a little knowledge will go a long way in keeping you from digging up pull tabs all day.  There are many subtleties to the functions of a metal detector, getting to know the different tones and settings is imperative to finding worthwhile treasures.  If you have any tips or tricks that you would like to share please leave them in the comments below.  The metal detecting community tends to be a very tight knit group of people who are always willing to help others.  If you don't know anyone else in your area who also enjoys this hobby you can always search online for metal detecting forums or facebook groups to meet new people.  Hunting with a partner is generally a good idea as there is strength in numbers, just remember to discuss how you will divide your findings amongst each other at the end of the day.  Some choose to split the finds between the group, others stick to the rule of who finds it keeps it.  Good luck and happy hunting.
